ELCA Advocacy

Connecting faith and public life

ELCA advocacy works for change in public policy based on the experience of Lutheran ministries, programs and projects around the world and in communities across the United States. We work through political channels on behalf of the following biblical values: peacemaking, hospitality to strangers, care for creation, and concern for people living in poverty and struggling with hunger and disease.

Action Center

Send messages directly to your representatives in support of or opposition to pieces of legislation that align with the ELCA's values. Just fill out your name, email, and address and the Action Center will sent pre-written messages (with an option to personalize) directly to your state and national representatives.

State Public Policy Offices

State Public Policy Offices represent the church in advocating at the state level on behalf of those without economic or political power. They work in partnership with local congregations, synods and social ministry organizations. This direct advocacy is carried out in context of scripture, the ELCA social statements, and under the guidance of our policy council.
